Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open]   Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] EmptySat Aug 08, 2009 2:08 pm

Large, gray pools gazed thoughtfully at a pair of sandals worn on small, fair-toned feet. Orihime sighed at herself, finally raising her eyes to the crosswalk ahead when the pedestrian light okay'd a safe passage across. Re-adjusting her brown paperbag of groceries from one arm to another, she continued on her journey back home. I really should get a bike.. She thought, imagining herself gliding home with ease before her imagination took it further with a vision of riding a flying bike. In mid-thought, she stumbled on the curb and accidentally dropped a few things from her grocery bag which she hastily stooped to retrieve, causing people behind her to grumble for having to walk around her. Aa, home sweet home.

She continued, switching the bag to either arm whenever one would get tired of holding it. She wasn't too fond of being in the center of the city, even though there was no other way to reach a grocery store and she doubted Urahara's Shoten provided much merchandise for humans. She could see the Karakura Hospital in the distance, which made her wonder what Ishida was up to. As soon as she thought classmates, her thoughts instinctively jumped to Ichigo. She sighed again. She hadn't seen him in a while, and visiting him at home wasn't really an option. She looked down at her feet again, despondently. She missed him.

All of a sudden, she was yanked from her thoughts by a surge of strong reiatsu, followed by a distant cry. She looked around at the citizens passing by; none of them seemed to hear it. That being said, she immediately knew what it was. Gripping her bag of groceries, she hurried to the source which was leading her to the Karakura Hospital. Once in closer reach, she quickly recognized Sado's reiatsu along with another, peculiar reiatsu that was strangely similar to Ichigo's. She peered at the hospital roof ahead, her face bearing a look of intense worry. Would she really be helping by jumping into the fray? Her gaze tensed and her free fist tightened. She had to help.. or all these years of training would have been for nothing.

Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open]   Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] EmptySun Aug 09, 2009 11:03 am

Sadly, Orihime's good intentions were largely wasted.

An uncannily tall, whip-slender man simply materialized behind her with a brief flash and a faint crackling noise. A wild mane of dark hair twitched in sympathy with his motions, sticking out in all directions as if electrified and half-shading eyes that were literally blazing with a fierce white light. Sharp features and high cheekbones surrounded those brilliant eyes, and above thin lips, an incongruously natty moustache completed the picture.

One long-fingered hand flashed out in an absent-minded grab for Orihime's upper arm; the other was firmly clasped around a long, oddly- contoured staff that the man appeared to be... arguing with?

"The power to defy fate... intriguing."

"There is no such thing as fate, you preening, electrified fool. There is only SCIENCE!"

"Even you must admit that the ability to reweave the strands of fate is intriguing..."

"Hmm... yes, temporal manipulation, by your superstition-laden description, is an interesting puzzle... you may wish to glance behind you, 'master'."

The hissing, crackling voice that seemed to be coming partially from the staff and partially from somewhere within the tall, thin man's chest oozed sarcasm with the word 'master', but the warning had a spark of genuineness to it. Apparently, much as whatever was bound within the staff disliked its current 'master', it disliked the idea of dying with him even more.

Fulmen glanced around, raising a bushy eyebrow. "Ah. One of those Vizard pests. Really, what was the Gotei thinking when they allowed the creation of those nuisances?" he mused, not really acknowledging Haishiro beyond noting his presence.

Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open]   Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] EmptyTue Aug 11, 2009 12:13 am

It happened in an instant. Before Orihime could take a step further, she felt a new reiatsu appear on the scene. Although, it wasn't on the rooftop of the hospital, but instead was right next to her. Her arm was seized before she could even turn her head toward the being that appeared, her gray eyes wide with shock.

She didn't recognize him, thus she wasn't sure if he was a friend or foe. She felt a small surge of leftover static when he touched her, so that didn't help her feel any safer. Her look of shock gradually shifted to apprehension, as she was left staring at the man who seemed to be arguing with.. his staff.

"Who... are you...?" She finally managed, trying to keep her voice from sounding shaky.

Only then did her eyes flicker to the other stranger that caught this man's attention.

Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] Empty

((Ooc- Apologies for the wait, life has been busy and distracting >.< -ooC))

The tall stranger didn't even appear to hear Orihime's question, staring abstractedly into the distance as clouds on the horizon, fluffy and white until moments ago, darkened and began to emit ominous rolls of thunder. Unexpectedly, though, the staff responded.

"Ignore that posturing fool- he is occupied trying to set up an appropriately dramatic backdrop for the revelation of his identity, if you can believe that. As to myself, I am, preposterous though it may seem, the Scientific Man, Nikolai Tesla. How I, or at least my energies, came to be entrapped in this metallic shaft is something that is not known even to myself, and the witless beanpole who 'wields' this form has yet to give anything resembling a satisfactory explanation."

As the staff (Tesla?) spoke, the sky rapidly darkened, the clouds that the stranger had been manipulating growing and spreading across the sky. Tesla's crackling voice was abruptly cut off when his 'master' slammed the butt of the staff on the pavement with a shockingly loud *CRACK*, ripples of force emanating from the impact point to fling every metallic object in the area away from him. A thin tendril of electricity shot upwards, to be answered by a roaring torrent of blue-white electric flame that split the sky, briefly turning the scene into a negative image of itself. Thankfully for Orihime, though, whatever prevented the man himself from being fried also protected her, courtesy of his hand still grasping her arm. Haishiro, however, enjoyed no such protection.

"I... am FULMEN!" the lightning-wielder declaimed as thunder broke windows for three blocks around, apparently ignorant of the fact that wandering onto the scene mumbling to himself, then arguing with an inanimate object, for a good five minutes before doing a dramatic entrance... tended to lessen the impact of said dramatic entrance. The drama was also not helped by Tesla's hissing sigh of "Here we go again..."

Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open]   Normalcy, or Lack Thereof [Open] EmptyTue Aug 18, 2009 2:24 am

She wasn't particularly fazed that her question was ignored; she was barely able to hear herself over the rumbling thunder as the stranger continued to gaze toward the heavens. Just who was this man.. or yet, ..what was he? She looked toward the violet-haired man, also uncertain of his identity. From the looks of it, he didn't seem to know the lanky stranger either.. let alone agree with his sudden appearance. Even though she knew so little, it was easy to decipher who was a friend and who was a foe.

As the once peaceful sky gradually conjured into an angry storm, Orihime could feel her heart pounding fiercely in her chest. She could hear the voice which the staff emitted, but her eyes and thoughts traveled to the rooftop of the hospital.

Is this what Sado was battling with? Was this man an accomplice of the unknown reiatsu that she detected before? If so, is Sado in danger? These questions rattled around in her head hopelessly with no real chance of being answered soon. Even now, her safety was less important. Her gaze shifted upward, to the roaring storm above. Kurosaki-kun... where are you?

The sudden, boisterous crack caused by the impact of the staff against the ground brought her back to reality. She raised an arm to shield her eyes from the blindingly bright light which she could not look away from, her eyes wide with fright. Even though she could hear the crackling of electricity ringing in her ears, the voice of the lanky stranger did not escape her.
